New Delhi, 7 September 2011, A Blast took place outside the most crowded entry gate to the Delhi high court complex on killing 9 people and 50 people seriously injured. The explosion took place around morning 10.15 a.m outside the gate no.5 of the Delhi High court .
The area was crowded with visitors seeking gate passes to enter the premises. Ambulances and fire tenders were rushed to the spot, injured people were taken to AIMS, RML and Sufdurjung hospital. According to Special Police Commissioner Dharmendra Kumar, initial estimates show at least 24 have been injured.
Police officials say that it was a high intensity blast and lawyers have been asked to vacate the court premises. The site has been cordoned off. The explosion took place outside Gate 5 where nearly 200 people were waiting in queue to get passes for entry into the court complex. The nature and magnitude of the blast was immediately not known. Officers said the bomb was kept inside a brief case.
