Mumbai-born designer Shilpa Chavan, known better as Little Shilpa, has made her mark in fashion capitals around the world. From Tokyo to London, she has cemented her presence by making some of the boldest, sculptural headpieces and jewelry to date.
Her credits include working under the genius minds of Philip Treacy and Javier Salvador, while also creating video and art instillations for the renowned Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Though her architectural designs may be an international sensation, Shilpa always seems to add splashes of color and a bit of Indian flair to all of her collections.
And while the designer may be short in stature, her elaborate hats, inspired by skyscrapers, kites, and birds in flight, tower high above her models’ heads. It’s no surprise that her eccentric style caught the eye of pop icon Lady Gaga, who later donned one of her studded helmets on the cover of FLARE magazine. These are a few of her most eye-catching pieces.acMumbai-born designer Shilpa Chavan, known better as Little Shilpa, has made her mark in fashion capitals around the world.
