The “İşsizler Orkestrası” (Orchestra of the Unemployed), formed by the graduates of the İzmir Dokuz Eylül University State Conservator Department, accelerated work after receiving a proposal from Mike Valentine, the sound producer of huge Hollywood productions like “The Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Star Wars.”
The orchestra formed by young musicians who took classical Western music education at the university but could not find a job after graduation, has succeeded in making their voice be heard abroad. Getting support from the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, the orchestra has so far performed 12 concerts. In one of these concerts, Valentine offered the young musicians a contract to make a record.
The orchestra members will make the record in November at İzmir’s Ahmet Adnan Saygun Culture Center and they expect that the record will be used in a Hollywood production.
