Takemitsu (1930-1996), the first Japanese to win international recognition election, wrote over 100 works for orchestra, chamber orchestra and piano, and 100 film soundtracks, including music from Akira Kurosawa, the 1985 epic "Ran." Inspired addition to the traditional Japanese music and composers such as Claude Debussy and Olivier Messiaen, Takemitsu WAS of jazz, popular and avant-garde music ....
